Improving listening competence
People often tell me I'm a great listener I associate this with me being sometimes a bit to reserved or quiet especially around new people and a new environment. While I consider myself a good active listener, I believe I can still improve my listening capabilities further like maintaining eye contact something I have identified to improve overall. A strategy I have adopted recently to be more engaging with more serious or professional settings is making sure I pause after someone has finished speaking counting to three to help use that short pause to let new information settle and reflect or shape my best reply. This strategy I find will definitely help my listening competence really helping me think before I speak especially for someone who sometimes can ramble on about things and misinterpret information.
